You love the creativity of being a photographer, and you got into it because you love being able to express yourself through your lens and document each moment as it passes. You’re passionate about being the best photographer you can be.
To be the best photographer you can be, you must always be growing, learning and seeking inspiration. As such, education is important to you.
But … what educational outlet is best for you? And how do you choose where to invest your time?
There are many ways that you can grow as a photographer, from workshops, seminars, one-on-ones, conventions and conferences to online courses, eBooks, podcasts and blogs. Heck … you’re here now, on SproutingPhotographer.com, where we write weekly articles and have several-per-week podcasts all about the business of photography.
There are 5 core elements that you should consider when looking at an educational opportunity to determine whether it’s worthwhile for you:
- The Source: The person who is giving you the education; the teacher.
- The Message: The idea or core message that is being taught.
- The Inspiration: How the message makes you feel and how it inspires you to act.
- The Environment: The surroundings and conditions in which the educational event is taking place.
- The Community: The support system, fellowship and camaraderie between you and everyone else at the educational event.
When you find the right combination (for you) of the above 5 core functions, you know it’s worthwhile.

Announcing my Master Class at WPPI 2015
Although I’ve spoken countless times at tradeshows, conventions, workshops and seminars, this year marks my first year as a speaker at WPPI, and I couldn’t be more excited about it! I’ll be giving a Master Class, taking place on Wednesday March 11th at 11:00am, about the business of photography. I’ll show you how you can find creativity in being an entrepreneur, and I’ll dive deep into some actionable, how-to strategies to grow as an entrepreneur.
You see, I believe that there are too many great photographers that struggle, not because of a lack of creativity, but because of a lack of business knowledge, follow-through and implementation. I believe in the freedom that being an entrepreneur allows for, and that there is nothing more attractive than being able to make a living by doing what you love.
You want to be successful. I want to help you get there.
Space is extremely limited!
Master Classes are limited, and take place in an intimate smaller classroom, so you have to register ahead of time. If you’re one of the 50,000 photographers that I’ve had the pleasure of inspiring through Sprouting Photographer over the past 10 months, or if you’re just new to the family, I would love it if you’d join me.
First, you must register for WPPI at www.WPPIOnline.com, then you can register for my Master Class.
Thanks to my sponsors – Finao Albums and Fundy Software
I would like to take a quick moment here to send out a special “thank you” to my sponsors for WPPI: Finao Albums and Fundy Software. I’ve had both Andrew from Fundy Software (episode #5) and Christine from Finao Albums on my podcast (coming up next week). I’ve also had the pleasure of being able to write for both of their online communities and blogs, here, here and here. These are both amazing companies that I personally endorse, and that is why I am excited to be working with them as my sponsors for my WPPI Master Class.
You can check out Finao Albums at www.FinaoAlbums.com, I get my wedding albums exclusively through Finao, and have been doing so for almost 9 years now. They offer the best quality in the industry without a shadow of a doubt, and their team is phenomenal to work with.
You can find out more about Fundy Software at www.FundySoftware.com. If you want to save time in your workflow, then these guys have got you covered! If you spend any more than 30 minutes designing an album, then you need to get Fundy Album Builder v6. It will blow your mind. I promise.
I’ll also be at WPPI spending some time at the Finao and Fundy booth, so I’d love to talk with you some more about what they offer. Come on by and visit!
